On a cold and windy day I headed to St Kevins Arcade for a photo shoot. I was meeting stylist Ashwini Bindra and designer Kapura Kaka, but instead I stumbled upon photographer Tux Hika in Alleyluya Cafe. The girls were running late, the make up artist had fainted- oh the irony- three thin, young, beautiful models and it's the makeup artist who faints from not eating.
When everyone eventually arrived we got to work shooting the look book for Kapura Kaka's new denim line "Karpz Jeans". Kapura is an AUT graduate who has previously worked with Miss Crabb so her style is not unexpectedly effortlessly cool street wear with impeccable and quirky details.
Stylist Ashwini Bindra is formally of State Of Grace SEE PREVIOUS SHOOTS and Tux Hika is THE photographer about town for Express magazine and Designer Direction. The assembled models Kat, Kristen and Caitlyn are the countries next big things. After this shoot Kat was seen walking on the runways of some of the best ANZFW shows including Zambesi SEE HERE and Kristen is the It model of the season appearing in the photo shoots for Taylor boutique and regularly gracing the pages of Viva magazine.
Set against the grungy, yet chic, background of K Road's St Kevin's Arcade the girls were styled to look - in my opinion - like slightly disheveled party girls staggering home in the early hours of the morning. The jeans were matched with towering boho high heels, cropped tops, and fur capes. You can check out the final shots on the Fashion/ website HERE.
